This is a suture sampler from the The Medical History Museum of the University of Zurich. Who knew there were so many ways of stitching up a wound, and that different methods are recommended for different areas of the body? Besides doctors from whenever this was made, I mean.

My observations:

By candlelight? Good God.
I can't believe she never shoved that needle right into her finger. I would have, several times.
I really want to learn how to do this.

Baby Elisabeth is not wearing a hat. Not because I haven't made her one, but because I misjudged the size and she's still too little for it.
